Happy Birthday Lisa!

It was Lisa's birthday on Sunday.........another year sweeter!

A funny thing happened....

Reed got back from a business trip to Las Vegas last week and he had a funny thing happen on the airplane on his return trip.  He had  just finished marking up "Clem" and closed the binder and was going to rest for the remainder of the trip.  The gentleman next to him began asking questions about whether he was going home and what he was doing in Las Vegas.  he explained that he worked for Nevada DOT and explained briefly what he had done for the day.  Then the man asked about what he was doing with the Department of Homeland Security and Terrorism.  Reed indicated....absolutely nothing but the man persisted with related questions.  After about a half minute, Reed realized that the man must have read parts of the last chapter of "Clem" when Clem developed a regional anti-terrorism training center for the homeland security department.  It took some conversation to clarify that Reed had written a fictious story.  It turned out that this man had spent five years working for the CIA about twenty years ago and he admitted to spying on Reed's writing.  Anyway, they ended up having a good laugh.

Congratulations Jared!

The grandkids sure grow up fast.  Scott's son Jared turned eight and was baptized this last Saturday.  We are so happy for him........Congratulations Jared!

Hunter Time

As some of you know, Tamra and Hunter have been staying with us for the last few weeks while Barry has been gone for work.  Now he is back and they are heading to Utah to get settled in.  Most of you know that they sold their house in Portland and will be settling in Utah.  It has been fun to have them with us and I'm so glad that I have been able to help out with Hunter while Tamra worked.  I'm sure I will be having Hunter withdrawals this next week!

Get with the program

Well, now that I have been able to successfully post a photo to our blog, I guess that I'd better get some words in here to tell you exactly what we've been up to.  As most of you know we had a wonderful trip to Okinawa to visit Cindy and the boys.  Chase was deployed at the time.  Reed was finally able to make the trip to Japan with me so that was extra fun.  Cindy had done an excellent job planning out fun things for us do.  Reed was able to stay for 10 days and we covered a lot of ground and were able to see and do a lot of fun things.  I was able to stay a couple of extra weeks after Reed went home.  What a special time that was to be able to help out a little and have some extra time with Cindy and the boys!
